Dare2Dance
Dare2Dance
D2D is a programme that is focused on getting young women involved in physical activity and achieves this through the medium of Hip Hop and Street dance.
Dare2Dance was launched on the 13th July 2008 as part of the Big Dance programme. The project is devised and delivered by independance and the b.supreme Festival for Women in Hip Hop, developed in partnership with PRO-ACTIVE Central, North and South and key agencies London Youth Dance, Nike, SAZ, Big Dance and the Southbank Centre.
Dare2Dance 2009
The D2D Hip Hop Competition took place at the Southbank Centre on 25th July 2009. Hundreds of young women aged 13yrs -22yrs came down to battle it out.
After a fantastic event full of energy, talent and fierce competition 6 groups were chosen to go on to the next stage of the Dare2Dance competition. Esteem, Essence, 2 Hypa, Retaliation, Trinity Movement and Trilogy Girls have each been matched with a professional Hip Hop company and will receive training throughout the summer. Each group will work with a dancer from the company they have been matched with to create a new piece for b.young b.supreme on 23rd October in Southbank Centre's Purcell Room. The companies the groups are working with are Aphrodite, Avant Garde, Boy Blue, Flowzaic, Unity and ZooNation.
