Sport Unlimited is a 10 week introduction to sport and physical activity for semi-sporty young people. In South London this is specifically targeted at 11-19 years of age.
Sport England identified six critical success factors that they felt were integral in achieving a programme that not only delivers the basic activity but encompases the wider objectives of the programme. These Critical Success Factors have been identified as;
1. Employing a joined up approach
2. Listening to student voice
3. Having a wide and varied activities framework
4. Signpost young people to the activities and on-going opportunities
5. Ensure sustainability of the activities
6. Learning from comprehensive evaluation.
The programme will be measured against the 5 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
KPI 1 ‘Participants’ – number of young people registering and taking part in at least one session
KPI 2 ‘Throughput’ – the cumulative total number of participants taking part at the series of sessions
KPI 3 ‘Retain’ – number of participants who attend at least 60% of the weekly sessions in a term-time series, i.e. 5 weeks for an 8 week project, 6 weeks for a 10 week project
KPI 4 ‘Sustain’ – number of young people who continue to take part regularly in sport
KPI 5 ‘Excel’ – the number of young people identified as talented and set on performance pathways thereafter
