Inclusive Activity
South London has a lower rate of disabled people participating in sport and active recreation (8.3%) compared to non-disabled people (24.1%).
PRO-ACTIVE South works in partnership with Interactive and their Strategic Development Officer Christof Niklaus to improve opportunities for disabled people to be involved in sport and physical activity.
Interactive
With a vision to achieve an active and inclusive capital, Interactive is the lead strategic development agency for sport and physical activity for disabled people in London.
The organisation ensures equality and inclusion are at the heart of grass root sport in London by influencing and supporting mainstream sport providers and policy makers to ensure they create, deliver and sustain inclusive opportunities for disabled people. The organisation uses its expertise to inform and advise disabled people on how they can get involved, at all levels, in sport and physical activity in London.
'Inclusive and Active 2' - A Sport and Physical Activity Strategy for Disabled People in London'Inclusive and Active 2' builds on the success of 'Inclusive and Active' and aligns itself with the recent changes in the sporting landscape.
The London wide strategy has a vision of active disabled Londoners and has been created in partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA), NHS London and Interactive. Other key supporters include the five PRO-ACTIVE partnerships, London Councils, Youth Sport Trust, Skills Active, Sports Coach UK, Paralympics GB, and UK Sport. The strategy is broken down into five key themes and drives forward inclusive sport and physical activity to increase participation levels by disabled people.
A fundamental part of ‘Inclusive and Active 2’ will be the adoption from agencies with strategic and provision responsibilities for sport and physical activity in London.
