PRO-ACTIVE South London Newsletter - Issue 33

Welcome to the latest edition of the PRO-ACTIVE South London Newsletter.

July sees the return of Dare2Dance (D2D). Building on the huge success of last years event, the D2D Hip Hop Competition 2009 returns on the 25th July 2009 for young women aged 13yrs -22 yrs at the Festival Hall in London - check out the diary dates section for more information.

We are pleased to announce that PRO-ACTIVE South London has accessed funding from the SKILLSACTIVE innovation fund to work in partnership with Sports Coach UK to deliver a 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Mentoring in Sport Qualification beginning in September 2009. We only have 9 spaces remaining so book early to avoid disappointment.

It is becoming increasingly recognised that high quality mentoring is a fundamental element of creating success in sport. This vocational qualification provides candidates with an opportunity to study and be assessed for both the practical and theoretical aspects of being a mentor in different sporting environments.

The knowledge gained will enable candidates to develop an understanding of, and practice in being an ethical and effective mentor. Candidates will be helped to develop their understanding of the potential applications of the role which might include providing mentoring services for people involved in coaching, officiating, sports development, outdoor education etc.

This modular course includes a mixture of 7 full days held between Sunday 6th September and Wednesday 3rd February. The heavily subsidised cost of the course is £350.

For more information contact David Gentles.
