PRO-ACTIVE South London Newsletter - Issue 37

 

Welcome to the first edition of the PRO-ACTIVE South London newsletter for 2010.

Arrivals and Departures:

Firstly the PRO-ACTIVE South London team welcomes a new member - Brian Thomas. Brian will be taking on the role of Coach Development Manager. Please refer to the news section for more details on the areas Brian will be working on.

We also have to say farewell to Kurt Pittman who has left the team to join Fulham Football Club. We would like to thank Kurt for his work over the last 2 years and wish him all the best in the future.

Workshops coming up!

There a number of workshops taking place over the next few weeks run not only by the PRO-ACTIVE Partnerships but also our partners and not just in South London but across the Capital. If you are a club representative, coach or a volunteer then their may be a workshop of interest. Please refer to the Courses for Coaches, Clubs & Volunteers section of the news letter.

We would like to remind you that we take a need's lead approach to putting on our workshops. If their is something that you need to achieve accreditation for you club, or simply a course you are interested in please contact David Gentles and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Official Sports London is an exciting bursary opportunity funded by the London Development Agency and Sport England. Official Sports London helps Londoners (33 boroughs) aged 16+ to complete sports officiating qualifications and to volunteer or work as officials. The programme aims to increase the number and skill level of sports officials in London, benefiting both individuals and competitive sports networks of all levels in London.

On Thursday 15th October 2009 the Department of Health launched the Dance Champions Group. The group, which comprises of a number of well known faces from dance, along with a handful of stakeholders, exists to champion dance in all its forms and to lend support to a range of existing initiatives.

18.01.2010 | Reinstatement of England Basketball Coaching Courses

News to Tutors and Providers of England Basketball Level 1 & 2 Coaching Courses

A recent analysis of the transition to UKCC Level 1 & 2 basketball coaching courses, provided for, and discussed with, representatives from Sports Coach UK and Sport England, revealed a 90% decline in England Basketball coach accreditations. As a consequence there has been a huge reduction in revenue. A major portion of this revenue is normally distributed to the ten Regional Management Committees to be utilised for regional development (essentially for the support of regional age-group teams).
