As part of this commitment, we are working towards achieving the advanced level of the Child Protection in Sport Unit’s Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children and vulnerable adults in Sport.

10.11.2009 | Latest News on Child Protection: Vetting and Barring Scheme Updates

As you may be aware, there has recently been a great deal of media attention on the Vetting and Barring Scheme.

NSPCC chief executive Andrew Flanagan said: “Ed Balls has made the right decision to check the vetting and barring scheme to ensure it strikes the right balance".

"People want to make sure children are protected but need to fully understand and buy into any major new plan that helps to do so. This review and improved information about how it works will hopefully allay confusion and misunderstandings about what the scheme is meant to do and lead to its successful introduction."

In an exciting development, the Mayor of London has invested £83,500 of GLA funding into the Panathlon Challenge, as part of the Sports Legacy Plan for London.

03.11.2009 | South Africa chose South London for 2012 Preparation

South Africa has chosen South London to host their Pre Games Training Camps for the London 2012 Olympic Games. South African athletes planning to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games will be based at St Mary's University College and the Lensbury Club and will also use a number of top quality club venues in the area.

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Sports Awards is the highest accolade that can be awarded by the Borough to children, young people and adults in recognition of their sporting achievements and services to sport. Four Kingston College students and two Alumni students were winners at an Awards evening held last week in the borough.
