South London Table Tennis Finals
Stanley Park High School became the first South London team through to the next round of the English School Table Tennis Associations ‘MORE SCHOOLS’ Championships. The Under 16 boys and girls competition held at Whitgift School on Friday 26th November saw 7 regional winners competing against each other for the chance to progress through to the next stage.
In the Under 13 and Under 16 girls’ competition, Holy Cross School and Woodcote High School played off in a straight final with some close individual games. Overall Woodcote High School came out on top so will be representing South London in the next round.
Due to the adverse weather conditions on 30th November, the Under 13 Boys competition had to be postponed until the snow cleared one week later. This didn’t prevent all teams still coming along to compete the following week with 8 entries initially playing in the cup competition. Teams that narrowly missed out in the first round of the cup competition then got automatically placed into a plate competition for more game play.
The competition was high in all age groups and all the results are presented below, each team member received a certificate for taking part. The top team in each age group will be representing their school and South London in the next round in the new year.
