Receive a subsidy of up to 75% for the Paraprofessional Studies in Primary Education Course, a professional development course for coaches working in primary school curricular PE, accredited and delivered by St Mary’s University College, Twickenham on 14th to 16th November 2010, 5th to 7th December 2010 – providing level two coaches with the skills and knowledge to deliver high quality PE and multi sport in schools.
If your coaches are part of the 17,200 coaches working in Primary Schools and if you want them to deliver quality PE and Multi sport sessions then you should consider this course.
The Paraprofessional Studies in Primary Physical Education courses has been developed following research in Primary schools which has highlighted an increasing demand for coaches to work in schools alongside teachers. In addition, head teachers are asking for these coaches to preferably have some educational training. The course is also designed for Teaching Assistants and other relevant professionals who want to develop their skills an competencies within the field of physical education.
The courses have been developed and accredited by St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, London. It is delivered by expert Primary Physical Education lecturers from the School of Education. A two day Coaching Young People in Multi Sports Course is also running parallel to this course on the 23rd to 24th November and 14th to 15th December 2010 with a similar subsidy offer.
We believe the courses to be unique at this present time. It provides 150 hours of learning time and successful candidates will receive 15 credits towards a Undergraduate Physical Education degree – a great first step towards being a PE teacher. The 150 contact hours will be split between;
1) Teaching (Direct contact with us over the two or three days)
2) Self-Directed study (both theoretical and practical)
3) Distance learning (Research articles, Lectures and other resources will be made available).
Each coach will also be provided with a range of resources which will include research and journal articles on the topics cover. This will be referred to during the three days and are also there for them to undertake their own reading within their own personal time.
The courses will be taught using a variety of methods including lectures, seminars, practical, peer assessment and student led work.
The courses starts with the 3 day contact time with the lecturers and will be completed after an assessment which will take place 6- 9 months after the initial 3 days. The total cost is £525 which you get for £130 if you take the 75% subsidy option.
