50 days to go - be part of the Olympic and Paralympic legacy!

50 days to go. Calling all Londoners – sign up and be part of the Olympic and Paralympic legacy!

With 50 days to go until the London 2012 Olympic Games, there is a unique opportunity for Londoners to be a real part of the Games legacy.

Sport Makers aims to capture the enthusiasm of the Games and give Londoners the opportunities, skills and networks to make sport happen in their local communities.

With London Sport Makers having already given more than 10,500 hours of their time to get people active, London Sport Maker Week is giving even more people the chance to sign up and get involved.

From 11th June a series of free and interactive Sport Maker events will be taking place across several of the capital’s finest sporting venues, including Wembley, Twickenham and KIA Oval as part of the London Sport Makers week.

On Wednesday 13th June Twickenham Stadium, the home of Rugby will host a Sport Makers event from 5.30pm to 8pm. The event is open to all and will give the participants the knowledge that they need to start making sport happen in their local communities. At the close of the event they will receive a free Adidas Sport Makers polo shirt, bag and pin badge. Attendees will be treated to a game of touch rugby at the start of the evening organised by the RFU Touch London coaches.

Backed by the British Olympic Association and £4 million of National Lottery funding and managed by PRO-ACTIVE South London, Sport Makers is part of Sport England’s Places People Play legacy programme that is bringing the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country.

Interested people can register for the Twickenham event at www.sportmakers.co.uk.
