PRO-ACTIVE London announce the ‘Gold’ sponsor for the 2012 London Sport & Physical Acivity Awards.

Organisers of the 2012 PRO-ACTIVE London Awards for Sport & Physical Activity today announced leisure’s most successful social enterprise GLL as their ‘Gold’ sponsor.

GLL oversees the management of over 100 public leisure centres, including swimming pools and gyms, within London and South East England. They are committed to the provision of leisure and fitness facilities at affordable prices. Distinct from purely commercial enterprises, GLL is the first leisure operator in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Social Enterprise Mark. GLL are a charitable social enterprise that exist for the benefit of the community.

The PRO-ACTIVE London Awards, which this year celebrate their 5th anniversary, pride themselves on recognising and celebrating the substantial achievements of the volunteers and professionals that make community sport and physical activity available to millions of Londoners of all ages on a daily basis. As well as honouring sports development, physical activity and health professionals the PRO-ACTIVE London Awards celebrate the voluntary heroes who raise the profile of community sport and healthy activities in London. These are the only awards that celebrate community sport and physical activity on a London scale.

Christine Double, a Partnership Director for the PRO-ACTIVE London partnerships said:

With 2012 being Olympic and Paralympic year the focus of the Nation, and indeed the World will be on London. It is the volunteers and professionals honoured at these awards that make sport happen. It is these people that will ensure that we have a legacy for Londoners to take part in sports and activities for years to come."

The 2012 PRO-ACTIVE London Awards will take place at the Kia Oval on the 27th April. Nominations for the awards open on the 17th January 2012. All nominations must be received by Friday 29th February 2012.
