There is a vast amount of data that relates to Sport & Physical Activity. The following page brings together a variety of these sources.

Tools & Resources to Support Local Authorities Sport England have produced the following booklet 'Sport England in in For the Long Run' on Sport England's tools and how they can be used to help deliver local sporting opportunities in challenging times.

Sports Participation

Active People Survey: The Active People Survey was commissioned by Sport England and provides robust data on levels of adult (16+) participation in sport down to a local authority level.

The Taking Part Survey: The Taking Part Survey collects data on many aspects of leisure, culture and sport in England for adults and children. Results are available at regional or national level from the Department for Culture Media and Sport Website

School Sport Survey: The School Sport and PE Survey has been running since 2003/04 and is used to measure the percentage of pupils participating in 2hrs of quality PE and school sport and more recently (since 2008/09) participation in 3hrs of PE and school sport. The survey also provides a range of other data of school sport including club school links and volunteering

Sports Volunteering

 Active People Survey: The Active People Survey provides data on the percentage of adults who volunteer in sport. Volunteering data for all Central London Boroughs is available on the London Data Bank

Sports Facilities

 London Facility Needs Assessment: London Facility Needs Assessment is an evidence base for sports facilities in London – the basis for strategic sports facilities planning across London using Sport England’s Facility Planning Model.

Sport Profile Tool: The Sport Profile Tool provides a summary of sports facilities in a particular local authority area and allows comparison with other areas

Active Places: Active Places is the national database of sport facilities in England. It contains data on swimming pools, sports halls, golf courses, indoor tennis courts, ski slopes and many more

Sport Clubs

Clubmark Clubs Based in Central London: Updated in November 2011 this is most up-to-date information on clubs accredited through the Clubmark process. The Map can be accessed through the following link: Clubmark Clubs Central London 2011

Get Active London: The Get Active London Web Portal provides is a one stop shop for the sport and active recreational need of people in London including the location of sports opportunities and clubs

Investment into Sport

 The National Lottery Database provides information of all grants that have been awarded in the past. This includes information on which organisations have received Lottery grants, what projects Lottery money was spent on, including amounts and dates, the local authority in which the successful organisation is situated, and the amount of Lottery money received by each of the six good causes including sport.

Sport England provices information on local awards for lottery and exchequer funding on its website in the form of an excel spreadsheet.
