This is an exciting opportunity for an Interim Community Sports Project Officer to join a team delivering our strategy to involve residents from social housing in the wider community and in particular through physical activity and healthy living. Please note that this is an Interim position until March 2012. Your base will be in Arnos Grove, North London and the role will require travel across Lambeth, Brent, Haringey and Enfield and you will also be required to work in other MHT London offices as necessary.
We are seeking someone with a track-record in identifying needs, developing initiatives as well as the ability to work as part of a team, who can explore the opportunities created by 2012, maximise funding available and generate match funding to create new opportunities. Awareness of the government agenda and social exclusion priorities is essential.
Working alongside 1 other Sports Project Officer and other subject matter experts, the successful applicant will possess a commitment to working with some of the most disadvantaged and hardest to reach members of our communities. Relevant experience working with diverse groups to support implementation of a range of projects and organise small scale events, plus knowledge of good practice in delivering community projects, particularly risk management, and experience monitoring and evaluating projects is essential.
An up to date knowledge of the sport and leisure industry, including qualifications and job roles is essential, plus a relevant level 3 qualification is desirable (eg NVQ Coaching, leadership, Youth work, Advice and Guidance), and excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office packages Word and Excel.
The purpose and nature of the post will require working with residents and other agencies out of normal office hours and will include some weekend working.
This post is part-funded through the Mayor’s Legacy Fund on an interim basis until the end March 2012, but may be extended subject to contract.
