Lambeth Sports & Recreation department is looking to recruit a Community Sports Manager for a Permanent Full time position.
Lambeth Sports and Recreation Service has an active Community Sports Team that is committed to increasing the number and quality of sporting opportunities for Lambeth residents to be involved with locally. It is our intention to build on our core programme of activity by working with a wide range of local groups, clubs, and sporting agencies to develop resources and ensure the sustainability of sport in the borough. As part of our continuing drive for excellence, we wish to appoint an experienced and capable person to take up the challenge of developing the strategic direction for, and effective management of, the Lambeth Community Sports Team, ultimately ensuring the continued effective delivery of sports services in the borough.
The successful candidate will be required to have an in-depth knowledge of community sport and have experience of managing operational issues in community sports agencies. The candidates must have previously led teams of staff, retained financial management responsibilities, and be able to provide examples of maintaining high quality standards in local sport services.
You will be expected to prepare and control community sport budgets, maintain existing working arrangements with internal and external stakeholders, and continue to develop sporting programmes that meet the needs of Lambeth’s diverse communities. Your day to day communications will range from dealing with schools, sports clubs, voluntary organisations, and the general public, to senior managers, Head of Service’s, and leadership boards, which will require you to possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills. You should have a range of sport development experiences, which include commissioning services and project management. You will be required to support staff and coaches to deliver sport sessions and programmes and be pro-active in identifying sporting areas that would benefit from further development.
We have a clear commitment to invest in public services that improve the health and quality of life of Lambeth residents. Therefore if you think you can meet this challenge, we would like to here from you.
