Education
The Abel Charitable Trust was established in 1976 as a vehicle for distributing some of the profits that a private construction company received through its activities in housebuilding. It originally had a predisposition towards charities addressing housing needs but, over time, has expanded its horizons to favour projects supporting offenders, young people, those with addiction problems and sex industry workers including victims of trafficking.
It is our view that to assist the vulnerable, it is important to help people help themselves, encouraging organizations and supporting preventative methods of help such as training, information and education.
N.B. Charities applying net assets must normally be no larger than £1,000,000 and annual income or expenditure must normally be no larger than £500,000. The charity should not have free reserves greater than one year's funding.Contact: Mrs M Marshall, The Old Forge, 11 Church Street, Boxford,
