5k - Your Way took place on Sunday 8th June at The Hub at Tooting and Mitcham Football Club.
Plus, a free 2k fun run will be took place at Pouters Park.
Report:
The rain that dampened the 2007 race was no where to be seen at this years event. With the sun shining, nearly all those who had entered the event made it to the start line.
Former Olympian and Commonwealth Gold Medalist Judy Oaks OBE was on-hand to start the race at 10.30am.
PRO-ACTIVE South London’s Justin Webb came home first in a time of 16 minutes and 48 seconds, setting a new course record. In 2nd place was Simon Long and Simon Ambrosi was 3rd.
A hotly contested Women’s race saw Victoria Lincoln just pip Claire Deyanirarivera to the line. The finish was so close that both girls were awarded the same time of 19 minutes 59 seconds. In 3rd place was Wendy Martin.
The team event was won by Holloways Penultimates who had 4 runners in the first 15 places.
Kingston College won the prize for the most represented organisation.
The ‘Best Effort’ award for the 5k race went to Joanna Coulson, a junior athlete. Not only did she complete the 5km course but she was also the first girl home over the 2km fun run, completing a total of 7km for the day.
Fun run participants were given the option of completing either one or two laps of the 1km course. Joe and Ben Jarrett came home in 1st and 2nd respectively over the 2km course. Matty Noble was awarded the ‘Best Effort’ award.
